Today’s solunar bite windows
A solunar calendar estimates major and minor feeding windows from the moon. This page previews them for a city, ZIP, or GPS pin. The scored best time to fish, fish mood, NOAA tide charts, and offline cache live in the Hookr Android app.
What is a solunar calendar?
A solunar calendar estimates when fish are more likely to feed from the moon’s position: transit overhead, antitransit underfoot, moonrise, and moonset. Those periods are called major and minor bite times. Hookr computes them on your device. This page is a free preview for one place and date.
How to read today’s bite times
- Type a city or ZIP, or use your location. The lookup stays in your browser.
- Choose the day you plan to fish. The chart uses that local date.
- Major and minor bite times come from moon transit, antitransit, moonrise, and moonset.
- The Android app turns those solunar times into a best-time score with pressure, wind, and coastal tides.

Solunar questions
What is the difference between major and minor bite times?
Major bite times are the longer windows around moon transit and antitransit. Minor bite times are the shorter windows around moonrise and moonset. Hookr charts both. The scored best time in the app also weighs barometric pressure, wind, dawn and dusk, and tides on coastal spots.
Does moon phase change the best fishing times?
Moon phase changes how bright the night is and where those solunar windows fall. Hookr shows the phase name and illumination percent next to the bite times. Best fishing times still depend on pressure, wind, and, on the coast, NOAA tide predictions. The phase alone does not pick the hour.
